michel kandinsky was born in a warsaw taxi cab & raised in oklahoma city. after injuries halted a competitive fencing career he studied neurobiology before turning to film. graduating from the polish national film school in lodz and la femis in paris he apprenticed under director lech majewski  (the mill & the cross and received a norman jewison fellowship to attend the canadian film centre.

michel has directed a feature, music videos, commercials & short films, written for episodic television and produced content for mtv and comedy central.

the short film kill brass, premiered at the 50th moscow international film festival, screened at festivals on five continents, winning the grand prix at the action/cut film competition.

the short doc performance, the last movie ever shot on b&w film in canada, was picked up by spotlight cinemas and played on over 130 screens across the usa.

the feature film hotel congress was included in the the grid magazine top 10 canadian films to watch, distributed by search engine & opened at tiff lightbox.
